Easy Homemade Chex Mix

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

Here's a super easy way to make a yummy snack with all of those random open bags in your pantry. There's literally SO many different ways to make chex mix. I constantly change it up with whatever bags have been opened the longest in my pantry. I feel like I can't be the only one that just has a million bags of snacks open at one time, and I every time I make chex mix to clear it all out, I swear I'm never going to let it happen again...and then another month goes by and lo and behold, it's chex mix time again because bags...bags everywhere.

Anyways, for real, it's so easy and so versatile. The only thing I keep the same is the Worcestershire sauce and the butter. Trust me. It makes it. Also, this isn't a super healthy snack by any means, but my kiddo loves it and it's one of my guilty pleasure foods, sooooo, it's just part of that 20% of our 80/20 lifestyle....that some weeks is more like 50/50 if I'm honest.

This is what I used for this recipe, but seriously, feel free to change it up.

Ingredients:

- 3C Rice Chex

- 3C Wheat Chex

- 2C Goldfish

-3C Pretzels

-5oz Pumpkin Seeds

-1C Dark Chocolate Chips

-2C Craisins

See? Random pantry finds make the best chex mix

- 1 Stick of Butter (Melted)

- 3TBSP Brown Sugar

- 1/4Cup Worcestershire Sauce

- 2TBSP Soy Sauce

- 2tsp Garlic Powder

-2tsp Onion Powder

-2tsp Paprika

1. Preheat oven to 250

2. Mix all ingredients together

4. Spread in a mostly single layer on a giant cookie sheet (or multiple pans)

5. Place in oven and bake for 45-50min stiring every 15minutes

****FLIP EVERY 15MIN TO PREVENT BURNING****

6. Let cool until room temperature

7. Add the fun stuff! I added dark chocolate chips and craisins

8. Enjoy

If I make a huge batch like this I'll just use a gallon bag to store it in instead of a container! We got through it pretty fast so I've never had it go stale, but if you're concerned, definitely put it in a sealed container.

Other great add in's are Goji berries, peanuts, cashews, roasted chickpeas, m&m's, cheez-its, cheerios, almonds, chocolate covered raisins, cheetos, etc, literally anything goes great with this mix!
